The Alto Vista Chapel in Aruba

Located high above the sea, Aruba's Alto Vista Chapel is a reconstruction of the island's first Roman Catholic Church in 1750. The Chapel was reconstructed in 1953. Visitors approach the Chapel along a winding road with white crosses - each symbolizing one of the Stations of the Cross.

Inside, the church has some interesting architectural features and a lovely alter. The site on which the Chapel is located is in a fairly remote part of Aruba and is very peaceful with little traffic, bright sun, a great view of the ocean, and a stiff breeze.
