If you've only spent time in the hotels and time-shares on Palm Beach or Eagle Beach you are missing one of
Aruba's greatest attractions. Taking-up about 25% of the island, the Arikok National Park was established to
preserve the geology, flora, fauna, and history that have come together to make Aruba what it is today.
From rugged rock formations to a pounding surf, Arikok is a demonstration of what it took for Aruba's early
settlers - and Aruba's native Indians - to live on the island. From a flora and fauna standpoint you can see how
plants and animals have adapted themselves to Aruba's environment and thrive.
Arikok National Park has a Visitor's Center where you can start your trip to this great natural preserve. There
are roads made for 4-Wheel drive vehicles so you can explore the park - and there are also hiking trails so you can
explore on foot. At the Visitor Center you can make arrangements to take a tour with a Park Ranger for a reasonable
charge.
Visit the Arikok National Park Foundation website for complete information - and to download a
high resolution map of the park.
