More than 90 Active Options for Soft Adventure and Sports Enthusiasts |
NEW YORK, NY - July 30, 2009 - Constant sunshine? Check. Steady winds? Check. Calm waters?
Check. Aruba has it all when it comes to putting together the pieces for an ideal vacation. For the soft adventure
sports enthusiast, the island also offers endless possibilities for countless fun and engaging activities, which
take place both above and below sea level.
From kayaking journeys to parasailing and golf tournaments, from submarine adventures to horseback riding and wind
surfing, Aruba offers some of the best sports adventure in the Caribbean.
Aruba’s tranquil crystal-blue warm waters are ideal for divers and snorkelers alike. There are great views of the
island’s coral reefs, a rainbow of sea life and legendary shipwrecks such as the Antilla and Boca Catalina.
Visitors can explore these underwater marvels on their own or take one of the several underwater tours to discover
various sites and witness Aruba’s
extraordinary marine environment. Most of Aruba’s dive sites lie along the protected western and southern coasts, a
short distance from the high-rise hotels on Palm Beach.
Aruba also offers a different and exciting way of experiencing the underwater environment: SNUBA (SNorkeling +
scUBA), an activity which lets vacationers breathe easily underwater without wearing heavy, restrictive scuba
diving gear, and does not require prior certification. Visitors can enjoy snuba at De Palm Island or at Palm Beach
on a Palm Pleasure Snorkel Adventure.
Water sports aficionados will be happy to learn that Aruba features some of the most amazing kite-surfing and
wind-surfing in the Caribbean. Water-ski lovers can now hone their skills and beginners can easily learn how to
become pros after a few fun lessons available at Palm Beach, Eagle Beach or Druif Beach.
Aruba’s topography offers a variety of exotic locations for adventurous visitors to enjoy a day
horseback riding at five different ranches around the island. For example, Rancho Del Campo
organizes trails through the untamed countryside of Arikok National Park, where horses will bring visitors to
Aruba's famous spots including the Fontein Cave one of several small limestone caves along the north coast which
have brownish-red drawings left by Amerindians and markings etched by early European settlers on the walls and
ceilings.
For golf lovers, Aruba offers the best combination of world-class golf courses and challenging
competitions. Tierra del Sol, located at the island’s northwest tip, is an 18-hole, par 71 course which is a
favorite amongst avid golfers due to its rugged natural surroundings. Professional golf courses can also be found
at The Links at Divi Aruba.
