Aruba's Great Attractions
The island of Aruba is filled with great things to see and do. In-fact, it's sometimes hard to decide
between the beach and all of the other attractions available on the island. But - don't make the mistake of
spending all of your time on the beach! Take some time-out to see some of the other things for which Aruba is
famous. Since the island is only 22 miles long, most everything is only a short trip away from your hotel.
Here are some of the things you should put on your agenda to see -
- Alto Vista Chapel
Aruba's Alto Vista Chapel is a reconstruction of the island's first Roman Catholic Church. The Chapel is located high above a scenic stretch of the Caribbean Sea and is worth a trip for those of all faiths.
- Arikok National Park
Established in 2000, Aruba's Arikok Park brings together Aruba's geology, flora, fauna, and history for visitors to enjoy. Start with a stop at the visitor's center and explore the park from there.
- Aruba Aloe
Aruba Aloe is known around the world for it's healing properties. The Aruba Aloe company offers a tour to show you how their special skin and body care products are made from aloe grown on their farm in Aruba. 25 minute tour that is very interesting.
- Aruba's Caves
Aruba's Arikok National Park is home to several limestone caves that make a very interesting destination for travelers to Aruba
- Balashi Beer from Aruba
Belashi Beer is the only beer brewed in Aruba. The company celebrated their 10th anniversary in October of 2009.
- Aruba Bird Sanctuary
Aruba is home to the Bubali Bird Sanctuary - a stop-over for many migrating bird species. The Sanctuary offers a nice tower for bird enthusiasts to see the variety of birds in the area.
- Aruba Butterfly Farm
Aruba's climate make it perfect for attracting all types of interesting and colorful butterflys. You can see them at the Aruba Butterfly Farm where the vegitation is grown to attract these beautiful creatures. Be sure to bring your camera!
- California Lighthouse in Aruba
One of Aruba's most iconic sites - the California lighthouse stands-out vividly against Aruba's blue skies making this a great place to visit and photograph.
- Aruba Donkey Sanctuary
The Aruba Donkey preserve is dedicated to maintaining a healthy population of donkey's on the island. You can visit the preserve and learn about the history of donkeys on Aruba plus learn about and feed the donkeys living in the sanctuary.
- Aruba Gold Mine Ruins
It's true - Aruba was once the site of a "gold rush". In fact the Dutch had to send soldiers to protect the gold on the island from the enthusiastic folks who wanted it. The ruins give you an idea of how an important time in Aruba's history helped shape the island - great views!
- Natural Bridge in Aruba
The Natural Bridge is a popular destination for tours of Aruba. The main bridge collapsed in September of 2005 but there is a "baby bridge" near-by.
- Oranjestad Capital of Aruba
With many fine shops and restaurants, Aruba's capital of Oranjestad makes a great place to stroll. Many colorful buildings reflect the Dutch heritage of the island.
- Aruba Ostrich Farm
When you think of Aruba - you probably don't think of Ostrich - but Aruba has an Ostrich Farm with a restaurant and gift shop to add to your itinerary
