Getting Married in Aruba
Aruba has always been a popular spot for weddings, but recent changes have made the island
even more popular. A civil ceremony once required that one spouse be a resident of Aruba and meet residency
requirements. Newly changed laws have made it possible for couples not citizens of Aruba to marry on the
island. As you can imagine, requests to be married on the island have increased
significantly.
What will you need to do if you’d like to get married in Aruba? If you’d like a civil ceremony then
this must be done at the Civil Registry Office located in downtown Oranjestad. Couples will have to provide the
Aruban government with proof they can marry by documenting they each are single. Aruba requires a "Certificate of
No Impediment" from the couple’s country or countries of origin.
Weddings can be held at the Civil House on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in the late morning
or early afternoon. Saturday weddings are available - in the late morning - for an additional fee.
